I'm looking for a SATA M.2 SSD for my Gateway Ultra Slim laptop it has an external SSD slot so does Samsung have any of these SSDs if not I'll look at the T7 shield because it's USB connected my laptop's main SSD is 512GB I just don't know if Samsung has any SATA SSDs for a Gateway Ultra Slim GWNR71517

Samsung has the 860 EVO Sata M.2 SSD in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB versions.

These will work in your Gateway.

Shop around for best price.

That's good to know because they only recommend 256GB to 1TB, and Gateway recommended 1TB as the max capacity for the external SSD slot on their help and support web pages

Ignore the info TJulio is espousing since it demonstrates a distinct lack of knowledge of the physical and technical specifications of your Gateway notebook while also not having a clue about the physical and electrical differences between the M.2 Sata and NVME sockets.

Enjoy the 860.

M.2 sata is going to be the nvme m.2 you can get the 990 evo m.2 nvme or any of the other nvme m.2 ssds, if you go to ur computer specs and check out the info on the ssd, if it is possible to change the ssd in a pcie slot you can get much faster speeds and use the 990pro m.2 pcie ssd, sata is considerably slower, do id check main drive for pcie compatibility and if it is swap it for a 990 pro, and buy a sata drive for your "external" slot, which is likely just a 2nd unused slot inside the laptop.

M2 sata connector has two slots in the motherboard connector, m2 nvme connector has one slot in the mothetboard connector. Most sites I have seen selling m2 drives state sata will not work in nvme connector and nvme will not work in sata connector. Their pinouts are different. So, m2 nvme drives have one slot, m2 sata drives have two slots. They can have the same form factor width and length, yet are different in their pinouts.
The nvme drives are 4 plus times faster in read/write operations than ssd's m2 type or not.
