Hi,

SM-J737A, Android 9, One UI ver. 1.1, Samsung Internet 14.0.1.62

After a Samsung Internet browser update, I've lost the QR scanner that would appear after touching the URL field.  That is, if the browser was open, all I had to do to get the QR scanner to appear was to touch the URL field.  This feature was enabled on my J737A (2018) and my wife's J727A (2016) by going to the Samsung Internet's settings and under Useful Features, enabling QR scanner.

My wife's J727A (2016) still has the QR scanner working, and still has Useful Features>QR scanner as a selection.

Of course, her phone is Android 8.1.0, Samsung Experience desktop 9.5, and Samsung Internet 13.2.3.2.

My J737A no longer has QR scanner under Useful Features, so I guess I have to get the QR scanner from somewhere else.  I don't want a third party QR app where I would get ads.  I don't have Bixby enabled, but from what I see, it looks like if I did, I'd launch my camera and there would be a QR scanner available, or, I go to the Samsung Store and get the Samsung QR scanner.  Yes?  No?

By the way, I did go here, and none of the instructions helps, primarily because the trail of where to go doesn't yield the options noted.  But, Bixby is still an option if I enable it.

About Bixby, I created a Samsung account on the web, for my desktop computer, successfully, but I spent a more than a day trying to get my Samsung phone to successfully verify 2-step authentication.  Even though I was getting a 2-step code to enter, which I did, the 'Verify' button never would enable for at least ten trys of having to continually enter my ID/PW. When it finally worked, I had to give Samsung permission to see everything, and I mean everything, or else Bixby wouldn't launch.  There were three separate disclosure statements for the Samsung account, and another disclosure for Bixby Vision.  When Bixby finally launched, I had to give still more permissions to get the QR reader to appear.  Geeezzzzz!  All I want to do is be able to see the menu at a restaurant.  I didn't care about Wine, Translate, Discover, or Shopping, but they were enable along with QR Code.

I didn't want to install a third party QR reader for obvious reasons.

Guess what?  I discovered something that was not in any version of my phone instructions, and for which I couldn't find any mention of online.  Here's what I discovered:

There is a built-in QR reader in the default browser, Samsung Internet!  Yes!  I stumbled upon it by searching every possible setting.  I launched Samsung Internet, and under Internet>Settings>Customize Menu>there is a QR Reader icon that can be moved to the Samsung Internet menu.  It works wonderfully!

Again, I found no directions on how to find/do this.  Whenever there's an update, prior instructions are not updated/revised, or is there a log of changes made.  Once an update is installed, the user is on their own as far as figuring out changes made, and how to compensate.

I did contact Samsung, but they are useless.  This forum is more responsive, even if answers are generic and are just repeats of most things the OP has already done before posting to this forum.

I have a samsung note 20 ultra with the latest updates released in june. What is frustrating for me js Samsung's camera app has a built-in qr code scanner.

The issue is it works maybe 20% of the time. Its frustrating at restaurants.

You pay top dollar for a device and you expect everything to work perfectly.

If anything have a qr code specific button or something but I literally have to point the camera at the qr code and "hope" that it woukd work.

I'm disappointed. Had the note series since note 2 and I'm about to chuck this phone on the floor.
