QLED and The Frame TVsI think it’d be really exciting if you could pause any content on the Frame TV and instantly save that specific still frame as your Art Mode background. For example, I just accidentally paused mine on a really beautiful shot from Star Trek: Lower Decks and thought, this would look amazing on my wall. I’m thinking Samsung could add a “Take Screenshot for Art Mode” option to the pause menu, and the captured image would save directly to my Art Mode collection.
I get there could be hurdles here, especially with DRM. I’m guessing services encrypt their content to prevent piracy, so capturing a still directly from a stream might raise concerns. However, I think there are potential solutions: 1. Samsung could work with streaming platforms to ensure this feature complies with DRM by encrypting the screenshots for Art Mode use only, making them non-exportable and unusable outside the TV’s ecosystem. 2. To alleviate concerns about piracy (e.g., someone scripting frame captures to reconstruct a movie), Samsung could impose limits, such as allowing only one still capture per minute or watermarking the image with a small and subtle streaming service logo in the corner.
I think this feature could make The Frame more fun and personal. It’s also a value add for Samsung, like “Turn your favorite on-screen moments into gallery-worthy art.” In the meantime I’ll deal with taking the screenshot from another device and uploading it as a custom background, but it would be so much cooler and more convenient to have this built right into the TV. Curious to hear anyone’s thoughts!
