Settings app suddenly forces portrait mode

I have a Galaxy Tab A8, an SM-X200, that I have mounted in a boat and use with a couple of navigation apps as a cheap DIY chart plotter.

After a recent update, the Setting app has started forcing itself into portrait mode. Given that I have it mounted, rather than use it handheld, and in landscape orientation, this is inconvenient.

I have a force-orientation app running, and I've enabled the Force Landcape for Portrait Apps setting, for Settings, and neither has any effect.

Keep in mind, settings worked just fine in landscape until just a week or so ago.

Ideas?

My tablet has an rotate option in quick settings, that toggles between "Portrait" and "Auto-rotate". It somehow got set to "Portrait".
