I know it's not for everyone, but I have my reasons for wanting root access to my phone. For one, a personal philosophy: it's my phone- I should be able to do what I want with it. Speaking of which, right to repair laws dictate software modification is legal.  Thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, itā€™s actually illegal for companies to void your warranty just because you repaired or modified something yourself. So warranty being voided is not an issue.  Being able to access the bootloader went from a grayed out option to no longer being listed in the developer options.

Again, I know many people feel no need to modify their phones or the software that comes with it. My personal preference is that I want access to all the files and features on MY device; the same way I expect to be able to open the hood of my car and if I choose to change something I expect that to be my prerogative. If this phone and software continue in this direction I will simply take my business elsewhere.

Idk if the heart ā¤ 'like' button being broken in this app is something to report, but I like this and agree. If I wanted a phone that was super locked down I'd just get an iPhone. THE reason I moved to Android is because I wanted root access to the file system.

Don't mistake my disagreement with frustration at you. I under stand we don't agree. It is frustrating, but that's why I'm venting on the forum where changes can happen in a new version. However, I'm not sure why if I want the option and you see no need for it that it should be removed. If you no longer root and what not, just don't do it in spite of the option to do so. Simple as that.

Hello  ,

Thank you for your feedback. Having root access and unlocking boot loader are out of scope of beta program.

I only mention it because the OEM unlocking is a setting that changed, specifically in the beta. Is that isolated to the beta or could I expect to see it change in a full version?

Until I see it I don't trust it is how I have to work with Samsung because just like their shipping practices which aren't stellar and they've been dishonest with, this is another one of those things you can't trust. It could be a bug it's even there due to the nature that this is a beta and someone didn't edit out that line of code. That comment there is also a lie by the way and trying to get people to shut up. It's well within the scope and definitely something worth "testing" but they're never going to do it and won't admit it to your face.

Does this mean it will be available in the release version of the OS?
