NFC doesn't work with screen off

I have an app I use for a digital wallet that stores my ID I use to scan. It used to work with the screen off before beta. Now it doesn't and the screen must be on. Is there a way to fix this?

I imagine the phone needs to be unlocked, i.e., the screen is off, but you can open the phone without a PIN or biometric

it used to work before, and now it works even locked but the screen has to be on

I think the only time that it ever did is if you had a Transit Card set in Samsung Pay.

it wasn't through Samsung pay, but worked similarly

As issue involves a 3rd party app, fix needs to be performed from the application side. It would be best if you let app developers know of this issue through their support channels.
