I've read where other folks are having issues with Samsung's.

I use Google Messages with no issues - maybe you should give it a go ...

I was also using Textra off and on, but wanted to utilize RCS, so switched to Google.

Hello @Tmo1963 ,

As suggested by @user751201tmO21 , Please try using google messages. If you are able to send and receive messages fine on google messages but not on samsung messages, Please send us an error report. 

If both apps do not work, it is probably best to reach to out to carrier for support.

Don't forget to install/update Carrier Services if you decide to use Google Messages.
