New notification icon on profile picture for RCS in Samsung Messages?

I am now just seeing this today. I know that previously if you scrolled through your contact list, you would occasionally see a dot next to someone's photo,

 which indicated that they would be available to chat via RCS in Samsung messages. However, I don't remember seeing this notification on the list of conversations itself. Is this new to Beta?

I saw those (as you say) occasionally when I was with AT&T with an S10+. Even with my current carrier T-Mobile. However, ever since I've been operating with the S21U, no dots. (head scratcher)

Green dot indicates IMS presence indicator which does indicated availability to chat via RCS
