Hi. This is my first post and I hope I'm using this forum correctly.

A month ago, I used Smart Switch to transfer data from my old S7 to my new A54. For a reason I now regret (old habits die hard), I continued to use my old S7. As a result, there are now text & multimedia messages and phone call logs for the past month that are obviously missing on my new A54.

If I use Smart Switch again (in order to get those missing text & multimedia messages and phone logs onto my A54), is there a chance that I'll wind up with a lot of duplicate messages and phone logs on my A54? That is, will Smart Switch transfer ALL the messages and phone logs or will it just transfer the messages and phone logs that occurred after I used Smart Switch a month ago?

I did see the following statement online: "Please note: Even if the same data is transmitted multiple times, duplicate data is skipped during the data transmission process." (https://www.samsung.com/levant/support/apps-services/what-are-the-data-transfer-options-in-smart-swi...)

This would suggest to me that only the messages and phone logs from the past month will be transferred to my A54. I am not terribly tech savvy and would appreciate feedback indicating whether my understanding is correct, or not. (I really don't want a mess of duplicate texts and phone logs on my new A54.)

Thank you.

Only the new stuff will transfer, but the messages are kept by your varrier and should be in your messaging app. If they are, they eill either be skipped or overwritten. The new call logs eill transfer.

Or will transfer what is missing.
When using use custom, you set it only for the time period that you want

Thank you, realaud and Robin621k. It worked like a charm. Appreciated the heads' up that Smart Switch would also ask me for a time period that I want stuff transferred.

OK I have a similar question but reversed.

I don't have enough storage space to transfer everything. I have 50,000 texts and it takes up over 2Gigs. If I go into custom and set it to only transfer texts going back the last 2 years. Can I (at some later date, in a few days, a week, a month) use smart switch again and transfer all the texts from before 2 years ago? It is my understanding that if I use smart switch again and just select TRANSFER ALL for my texts it will transfer ALL OF THEM, everything OLDER than 2 years ago will NOW be on my new phone and everything from 2 years ago to current (the texts that sent on a previous attempt will just overwrite if they're currently on my phone)

P.S. my biggest concern is that if I do transfer only the last 2 years of texts, can I still transfer those older than 2 years ago at a later

Smart Switch says it does not overwrite things that were already transferred, only what wasn't transferred the first time.  I don't know why anyone needs 50,000 texts, but that's your business.  You can also download an app called SMS backup and restore from the Play store and just backup/archive all your texts.  The texts are then tucked safely away wherever you stored them and easily readable from within the backup app, or through a pdf reader.  You can, of course, also, restore them to your messaging app.  However, if your phone has the capacity for all the messages, why wouldn't you just transfer them all at once?  Just use Smart Switch to transfer everything phone to phone.  Be aware, however, that not all your apps will transfer, as some have protections that prevent that, so you will have to download them fresh.
