Hi everyone, I’ve been curious about Samsung DeX and its potential to replace a laptop for everyday tasks. For those who use it, how is your experience? Can it handle productivity apps, light gaming, or multitasking efficiently?

Also, which phone works best with DeX? I’m thinking about upgrading soon and want to make the most of this feature.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

As a Samsung Galaxy owner since the Note 3, and a heavy tester for their apps and features over the years, I can say for me at least, Dex has been invaluable for my production needs in the music and tech industries. Because I've not always been able to have a PC, going some years without one during the Note 9s height in popularity, but because I specifically had a Samsung, with Dex feature integrations, I was able to continue my work where otherwise I would not have been. Today, Dex has become an entity of its own with integrations to a wide range of apps, and devices. It was unfortunate to hear that support for Dex will be going away for windows, but the reason for this isn't because it's not capable, but because Samsung and windows now integrates on a level where Dex simply isn't needed anymore. A continuation of dedicated resources would be wasteful. With the link to windows features, and the Galaxy S flagships being loaded with Microsoft tools out of the box, Dex would take away from the future innovation of its own capabilities. Samsung was smart to discontinue windows integrations to focus on Samsung specific connectivity considering how popular their electronics divisionsion is, and how Dex is the perfect UX to maintain mesh networking across Samsung devices. So, I said all that to say, yes! Absolutely!

@kabudiba2 Dex compatible devices include the Fold series, the S series, and the tablets.

If you do a search on the web, you will find reviews written by people who have replaced their laptop/desktop with Dex. All the ones that I have read expressed a postitive result with maybe one or 2 specialty apps that might not work as well in Dex.

Honestly, for me dex has been helpful when needing a computer on the fly. Do I really need it? Probably not. How often do I use it? Maybe once a year. These days I am always carrying my laptop or can do most of the tasks on my phone without dex
