Galaxy S212 weeks ago I switched from Samsung Messages and made Google Messages my default. Since then, I have received many spam texts and more than a typical amount of spam phone calls.

Galaxy S21@uservgrto6bS79 Switching to Google messages had nothing to do with an increase in spam messages. It just happened to coincide with an increase in spam.

Galaxy S21The last few days before election day, there was a big increase in spam with canvassers sending out texts. As @LongHiker said, it has nothing to do with the app. You can turn off notifications for the spam so you never see or hear of them unless and until you check the spam and blocked section. In notifications, turn off the slider for for spam protection. You have to have categories enabled for this.

Galaxy S21So, everyone is wrong except you. Okie doke. Did you ever consider that you had spam protection turned on in Samsung Messages, and didn't turn it on in Google messages?
