If I do a treadmill exercise, the watch has an option to calibrate the distance. For some reason, the watch only offers a specific set of distance inputs. In this real example (pictured), I walk 0.88 miles which the watch calibrates to 0.19 initially. I want to adjust this but it has .09-.30 as a range of options to calibrate. This makes no sense to me. The treadmill has a very clear tracking of the distance. I should be able to put in the correct 0.88. I'm not sure why some defined range was created versus just manual input.

Is this just a bug or by design? If bug, it would be a nice fix for all those who track exercise with treadmills.

Thanks,
Grant

Thank you for reaching out. I can certainly understand your frustration with the distance not calculating properly when you are walking on the treadmill. So the first thing I would recommend is making sure that when using the treadmill you are moving your arms: Steps are not counted when there is no hand movement in the exercise. For example, steps may not be recorded when pushing a lawn mower or cart because your hands are not moving. The watch is intended to calculate real step counts while walking. Give these links a try to get more accurate step counts and distance out of your watch: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003112/#inaccurate-step-factors-on-your-sams... and https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003204/

Please know the way that Samsung measure the distance on a workout is a combination of your steps, stride length, and GPS data. Steps and stride length are used to determine your traveled distance. Give this link a try for more information: https://content.samsungknowledge.com/tip/10093/en-US/index.html?locale=en

The next step I would recommend is to make sure your Samsung Health and watch are up-to-date.

If you have tried all the troubleshooting steps provided, I would recommend submitting an error report, as this will allow our team of engineers to get a hands-on look at the symptoms you are experiencing: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-send-an-error-report/

It's the same thing for me on my Watch 4. What is going on here?

I have a similar problem, in that there is no way to adjust the whole number (number left of the decimal).  So the watch assumes there is no way I could walk more than a mile on the treadmill.

Same here except if you walk long enough the 0 gives an option for 1. It is very poorly calibrated with an incorrect manual input capability.

That's interesting.  How long did you walk for?  I set my treadmill for 2 miles an hour and walked for an hour, and the treadmill read out said 2 miles.  Still didn't have the option to change the 0 (number left of the decimal) at all.

Mine did not do that. I've gotten it to show 1 or 2 depending on time on treadmill. Still doesn't let me pick that number though. So treadmill said 3 miles and I only have an option for 0 or 1 mile input. 😤

This suddenly worked for the last 2 weeks where I was able to manually enter any distance numbers. But for some reason, the watch software reverted back to now only having a very specific input that is allowed. Not sure what happened but I advise Samsung to fix this. Very simple, let users manually put in whatever distance their treadmill says. Don't try to put a fancy model that determines this incorrectly.

Any idea how to get this on the Samsung watch backlog? Heck, I'd make the fix and commit the code if allowed.
