Customize chat room separately or will they see?

When you customize the chat room on the message app can the people your texting see that, or are they able to customize it to there likeing separately at the same time? I was curious cause I didnt want to change what was a normal chat room with my parents or friends if they could see it and they didnt like it.

Only you can see that you've changed the chat settings. Are you using Google messages?
