Samsung (Messages) One UI Inconsistencies Factory Unlocked vs. Carrier Firmware - WHY!

S23U - Factory Unlocked Firmware - SM-S918U1 - One UI 6.1 - Samsung Messages 15.1.20.27 - Android Security Patch March 1, 2024 - T-Mobile + T-Mobile MVNO

S24U - Carrier Locked Firmware - SM-S928U - One UI 6.1 - Samsung Messages 15.1.11.1 - Android Security Patch April 1, 2024 - T-Mobile

Both - Carrier Configuration Version 4.0000 - Google Play System Update March 1, 2024

Why the inconsistency? The Carrier Firmware version devices have stuff that the Unlocked Firmware doesn't and vice versa LOL it's so weird!

Carriers pay for add-ons and also unlocked versions don't have carrier files for some features. Carriers also may have their own services that are similar to Samsung versions which they'd choose their own over Samsungs version.

It really doesn't make a difference since neither version will receive updates anymore.

Samsung and Carriers have gone all in on Google Messages.

Google wants it this way, one unified app for over a billion devices around the word. Carriers don't want to support SMS/MMS anymore. Now that Apple is being forced to implement RCS in Sept, Carriers will only use SMS/MMS as a fallback
