Google Assistant Not Working on the Galaxy watch 5 pro beta

I have a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and have trying to use Google Assistant more.  It rarely works.  In most cases, the app opens, I speak to the watch and the assistant looks to detect my voice (the multi colored line at the bottom moves with my voice), but then Assistant gives a message that it is still listening and never responds.

The watch does not stay connected to wifi, which seems to be related.  The bluetooth connection to my phone is solid, but wifi only connects when I go into the wifi setting.  Once there, it connects to my home network but disconnects the minute I leave the screen.  If I go to Assistant right away, I can get it to work.

I am not sure why the wifi disconnects and the Assistant cannot use the connection to my phone to work.  I have checked for updates to the app, the watch and my phone.  Everything is up to date.  Any help would be appreciated.

For reference, I have the Watch 5 Pro running One UI 5.  It is connected to an S23 Ultra running One UI 6 beta.  The Assistant issues existed before installing the beta.

You might be happier than it isn't working honestly. 🤣 The always listening Google Assistant and Bixby is a serious battery drain lol. Since you're running beta software, even though you mentioned this issue existed prior to installing it, it's very hard to differentiate between what could be beta bugs/glitches versus something wrong with the device itself. The stable One UI Watch 5 release should be just around the corner.

I do not have the always listening active. I either have to open the app or double press the home button.

The watch is on the Stable, final version of One UI 5 that was released last month. That is partly why I am concerned.

The stable One UI Watch 5 hasn't been released for either the Watch 4 or Watch 5. I also have the 5 Pro and am still running the beta software.

That is interesting.  I read the Beta group received the Stable release in late July.  That made sense because the same day I got that update and read the article I started getting Samsung Health updates from the Galaxy Store and was removed from the Beta group.  Prior to that, all Health updates were from the link in the Beta section.

I guess we will see if any updates come.

What are the last 4 letters/numbers of your Watch's software version in Settings>About watch>Software information? The most recent beta update is ZWH3.

I have ZWH3 too.  I guess it is a beta and I will wait it out.

If you're continuing to have trouble after the beta ends, we can go through some troubleshooting steps. I have a sneaking suspicion that this issue will have been cleared up though. 😅

The Google assistant hasn't been updated in over a year
