I want to turn off Recent Photos in Gallery. I don't want to merely not show it, I want it off. I want to be able to look at photos with someone and not have a recent photo I downloaded or took be visible. Suppose I downloaded an invitation to a surprise party and the person the party was for saw it. How can I make Gallery not record recent photos? I want the Recent Photos album to not exist.

Move the photo that you wish to hide into Secure Folder or simply create a album of the photos you wish to show and show that album.

I have several categories of photos I would like to "hide," so I'd need the Secure Folder to have some structure (i.e., subfolders), and indeed subfolders I could selectively reveal. I presume, but don't know β€” does anyone? β€” if moving it from say Downloads to the secure folder removes the copy/link in Recent.

What I don't like about the current incarnation of the Secure Folder (and the reason I haven't explored it) is that it gratuitously requires logging in to my Samsung account. In the past this was not the case (maybe with a different brand of phone). Can anyone suggest an app that would selectively hide a specific album/folder with local encryption not requiring any login?

The "move to a new folder and don't show it" doesn't work for me per my post. If I move the new party invite pictures to "z ardypay" and choose an innocuous cover folder that might work for many things, but unless I choose not to show that folder and choose to hide folders, then the Recent folder will have all those pictures and slap me at the top of my feed. Browsers have histories of URLs you've visited and in may circumstances that can be helpful, but every browser I know has a way to turn off the history collection. The Recent album is essentially a history and I think it needs to be turn-off-able.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Gallery has the same structure in Secure Folder, so all your hidden folders are there with the same organization. If you want to show an album, either open the Secure Folder or moving it out of Secure Folder then back.

Go into Gallery settings and turn off "select albums to show".

This "solution" fails to understand my request. I have numerous albums I don't show. I might sometimes want to show one of those to a specific person at a specific time and I don't want to suddenly have my Recent Album appear. I said in my question "I don't want to merely not show it, I want it off."
