Overnight something happens to my phone and if someone tries to call me it goes straight to VM-doesnt even ring. If I try to make an outgoing call it doesn't connect and the dial screen closes right away. I also do not get some notifications. Once I re-start my phone a flood of notifications and voicemail alerts come in.  I don't think re-starting the phone every single day is the answer. Anyone else experience this?

Thank you for that information. As you have your device set to restart every night at 3 am, you device won't receive calls or text messages until you unlock the device. This is a security feature built into your device.

That isnt the problem. I have already unlocked it to make an outgoing call. The call will not connect and I do not get all of my notifications unless I restart my phone.

Thank you for that information. Have you tried wiping the cache partition on your device? Give these steps a try:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Side / Power key.
  3. When the Samsung logo displays, release both keys.
  4. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Side / Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Side / Power key to select.
  8. When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Side / Power key to restart the device.

I had wiped the cache partition already and it didnt work. I did it a 2nd time yesterday and this morning I had the same issue. I had 2 people whos calls I missed and 5 text messages came through after the restart. I have contacted Verizon and they tell me its the phone and not the cell service. I had a Samsung S9+ on Verizon prior to purchasing this phone in December and never encountered this issue with that phone.
