Does Samsung Health track steps when the app is closed

Does Samsung Health record your steps while out of the app and while it's closed? I would like to know.

If the app is open it can run in the background, so yes, it can track your steps. You should have a notification that informs you that it is running in the background. But if you close the app, it may not continue to run in the background.
