Hello all

New s25 ultra and while it mainly works fine I'm trying to sync contacts from my phone to my Galaxy book and need to first get them to the cloud by backing them up with my phone.

The problem is I cannot back up my contacts or really any data to the Samsung cloud

I received the error: couldnt back up this data. Samsung cloud didn't respond.

I raised an incident with support and so far they have not been able to resolve.

What I've done so far:

The phone is fully updated.

I am not over the storage limit only using a few MB

Cleared app data and cache of Samsung cloud app

Logged out and back in of Samsung account

Tried on Wi-Fi and mobile

Saved contacts to SIM card Rather than just trying to upload the contact saved to Google

Restarted phone wiped cache partition

Force quit the app. Wiped cache again

Tried with enhanced data protection on or off

Tried selecting different options in the backup toggling certain apps on and off etc

Reset network settings

I think that's it. Trying to avoid a full factory reset as I need to keep my authenticators for work and don't really have anywhere else to put them.

Appreciate any help or suggestions.. thank you

Hello cloudproblems, Welcome to the Community. We understand the concern with Samsung Cloud not completing the backup.

This link provides the available troubleshooting: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01213631/

Which, it looks you have tried all the steps and many more.

Are you able to back up the data with Smart Switch? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl8c7mYzevU

When you raised the incident with support, did you use the Send Feedback option in the Members app? This link provides the steps: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

It may be necessary to do the factory reset. Let us know how you are able to resolve backing up the phone.

I am able to upload/backup contacts from my phone to the Samsung cloud via Smart switch. But unable to pull them down to my Galaxy book. Every time I hit update in the phone app it says no new contacts to sync.

FYI and I don't know why it took so long to figure this out but Verizon Network phones do not support Samsung cloud. I ended up doing the factory reset in Samsung cloud didn't install. How support was not able to tell me this in multiple conversations I'm not sure but that's it.

I just noticed that Samsung auto backup hasn't backed up at all while charging overnight. I have had to manually backup. Android backup is working fine. Anyone notice the same.

Do you keep your network connections active overnight - mobile data & wi-fi? I believe wi-fi has to be on (some people turn it off). Are you sure the settings for auto backup weren't somehow turned off? If everything is set correctly, put in an error report in from the support tab of the members app.  Also, if the wi-fi is on and no backups are being made, try wiping the cache partition on the phone.  There may be some temporary file remnants hanging around jamming up the works.

I noticed my backups stopped working on 2-15-25.  I did some trouble shooting and found out that if I turn the WiFi off and then do a manual backup it works just fine.  Samsung told me that autoback up is set to only work over wifi.  I created a support ticket and just got a reply that they are escalating this problem to their developers for further evaluation.

I also got a message saying they are escalating the problem. I will check to see if the AYB3 update I applied today has solved the issue

Mine hasn't made an auto backup since I got the phone on 2nd Feb, I did one manual backup on the 20th but there is still no auto-backups after that either. Wifi is always on and I don't charge overnight.

I have looked at the auto-backup requirements in the 3-dot > More Information page and all three are fulfilled when I connect it to charger: 1. Phone is charging, 2. Phone is connected to a wifi network, 3. The screen is off.
