Galaxy S21Hey, is anyone having an issue with their SIM card not working after updating to One UI 7?
Before the update, my phone model was SM-G990U1, but after the update, it shows as SM-G990U1/DS.
Now I get the message: "Emergency calls only. Invalid card." — even when no SIM is inserted.
In the settings, there's now a SIM Manager that shows a SIM 2 (Unknown), which shouldn’t be there, as my phone is a single SIM model.
It seems like the update installed software intended for the dual SIM version of the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated — thanks!

Galaxy S21Hi @MarvinMod2 I tried turning on airplane mode for a few seconds and then turning it off again, but it didn’t help. I also tried restarting the phone and eventually did a factory reset — that didn’t help either.

Galaxy S21I already tried that — the SIM works fine in other devices, so the issue is definitely with the phone. I wish there were a way to roll back to Android 14. I don’t understand how Samsung could push a software update meant for a dual SIM phone to a single SIM model.

Galaxy S21I was under the impression that all the Samsung phones were dual SIM. The software update will only include settings for the features your phone has, so if you have gotten a SIM manager, you indeed do have a dual SIM model. The DS designation is Dual SIM. It is unlikely your phone's model number designation would have changed if your phone does not have a dual SIM tray. A quick Google search revealed that the S21 FE shipped with a dual SIM tray, but SIM 2 was not activated, with a reserve for a later software update to turn it on. I guess OneUI7 turned it on and changed your phone's model #. Make sure your SIM is in the primary slot and that the primary slot is the active slot. My guess is the dual sim tray is not side by side SIMs, but a double sided SIM tray. The tray should be labeled SIM1 & SIM 2.
If none of this works, I suggest factory resetting your phone, which will give you a clean operating system. If the dual SIM designation stays, then you definitely have a dual SIM model.
If your phone was initially a carrier locked phone, check with your carrier.

Galaxy S21The SIM tray on my phone only has one slot — it’s not double-sided. However, I managed to get a double-sided SIM tray from another S21 FE (DS model) and inserted it with two SIM cards, but it still didn’t work. Even after a restart and factory reset, the "DS" designation remains, although it wasn’t there before the update. I bought this phone unlocked from a local vendor; it was not tied to any carrier.

Galaxy S21You may have to take it to a repair center to have them flash it with the proper software. However, It has been my understanding over the last couple of decades that OS updates do not add any features that a device is not built for/capable of handling. The update was pushed out by your carrier after they tweaked it for their network - it did not come directly to you from Samsung, so you will have to contact your carrier to see if there is anything they can do. Also, put in an error report with Samsung, and don't forget to allow your logs to upload.

Galaxy S21Thanks for the explanation. Just to clarify — I’m using a Telesur SIM card here in Suriname, so yes, Telesur is technically my carrier.
However, Telesur doesn’t tweak or push firmware updates to phones, especially not unlocked models like mine (SM-G990U1). From what I understand, the update likely came directly from Samsung, not through the carrier.
So it seems unusual that my phone suddenly shows the "DS" designation and dual SIM behavior after the update, even though it only has a single SIM slot and doesn't support eSIM.
I'll go ahead and submit an error report to Samsung and make sure the logs are uploaded.

Galaxy S21Oh, you are not in the US. You have landed in the U.S. forum, where the focus is on US equipment and services, and hardware and software (and carriers) differ region to region. You might have better answers from a community in your region https://www.samsung.com/visitcountry/
