How to remove border in Gallery

I want to remove the border around photos in Gallery. It displays the edit options that we used to select as an option. This is on all photos. You can kind of see through but it prevents viewing complete screen.

@freedomfrom If you click somewhere on the photo, the borders will disappear. Then you can even swipe left/right to view the other photos w/o a border.
