I just opened my phone and realized Samsung wants us to switch to Google messages. I am not ok with this. This is a dumb idea. Google messages did not work well when I 1st bought my phone and I'm sure it doesn't work any better now. Please let us keep the option for Samsung messages. I'm sure many Samsung users feel the same way.

Being forced to use Google messages instead of Samsung messages is annoying
Tried out the Google messages yesterday and the app drained my phone battery in an hour. When trying to send a text it froze, then the option to send a photo sent me to the camera and not the gallery. Couldn't personalize my avatar. When trying to put a caption under the photo app froze and forced closed. I switched back to using the Samsung messages. Love my android but probably going to be looking for a different cellphone device that doesn't force you to use Google messages, I have until July.

No one's forcing you, pick whatever you want to use. This isn't new, they told us 2 years ago messages was going away

Can you provide a screenshot of your battery usage details to include Messages?

Notice that they never returned with a response. Probably looked at the stats and discovered it was not, in fact, Google messages causing drain - or their battery returned to normal.

I don't believe that Google messages was the reason for your battery drain.  Even if it used slightly more battery than usual (which is none), while reindexing and updating, it would not drain in an hour. As @Pianodude58 requested, show your battery usage statistics and let's see what's really using the battery. Make sure you tap the calendar row at the top, to show us the use on the date you claim (since today is a new day) You can also see how much battery the app actually used by going to the app information screen (apps/Messages) and scrolling down to battery usage and see if and how much battery the app used.  Even though I use Google messages (for years and years) daily, it never shows in my battery usage statistics.
