Anyone having issue with orientation getting permanently lock at one orientation when auto rotation was turned off?

To simulate:

Set custom minimum width in developer option to 600 or more. (To reset custom minimum width can go to screen zoom and choose any of the option)

Turn on auto rotation. Go to an app that can be rotate landscape. Rotate your phone to landscape orientation in the app then go to quick panel setting and off the auto rotation.

Now the phone will be locked permanently to landscape orientation regardless what application you open.

In one UI 7, it doesn't work this way. Turning off auto rotation will only allow app to open in their "default" orientation and not locking the orientation.

My phone is S24 ultra recently updated to one UI 8.0

Is this a new feature or bug?

The rotation orientation of any app is set by the app developer and will override any rotation settings you set. It has always been this way. Some developers allow any orientation, but most don't - especially games and video apps.

Hi,

Thanks for the response, but before updating to one UI 8.0. There weren't any issue with the auto rotation. Seems like samsung change the logic of how auto rotation works when it is turn off.

The above simulation, I'm referring to normal apps like clock, Internet and etc that supports auto rotate. If you are using one UI 8.0, you can give it a try and you'll understand what I've meant.

I've corrected my above statement. This bug will only impact custom high minimum width. From what I've tested it'd 600 dp and above.

I prefer not to use landscape mode at all, except for apps that require it, and I can see my AOD clock just fine in portrait mode.

Are you able to change custom width to 600 and try it again?

I've been using high custom width since one UI 7.0 as it give more screen real estate.
