My phone which came from carrier is usa/puerto rico model U1. Guess being a usa territory is the reason for that. And the phone 'members app' defaults to this community (US) here in Puerto Rico.

Puerto rico/USA uses the U1 model which is the main usa unlocked version. Latin america uses B which is international version.
