I got a new S26 last week and everything transferred over just fine from my old S21 phone. However, I had to return it for a second S26 because it kept randomly auto restarting for no reason. Did the exchange today for the new S26, and now my FB message history is gone. It oddly does show messages that are about 2 years old and prior. I used the Smart Switch just like I did with the first S26 last week, but this is the only thing I see that didn't transfer over properly (chat history was all there just fine on the first S26 last week). I've tried all the online solutions I could find - uninstall, delete cache, updates, create a pin code on both phones, etc. At one point, I did get the chance to "restore now," but nothing happened when I clicked on it. And that option has not come up again since. I still have my old S21 and can see and access my chat history on it. Why won't it transfer to the new phone? Anyone else have this problem and get it to work?

I had somewhat the same issue transferring from S21 to S26+. Files got corrupted somehow. And couldn't access email, Samsung Pass or Wallet. Finally went back to T Mobile and they gave me a new phone it was still under warranty. Service rep said this problem does exist with new phones but not frequent.

Thanks for the reply! If the files were corrupt, wouldn't clearing them out and starting over resolve the issue? Or was it something on the new phone causing that corruption, no matter how many times you re- install and transfer?

I called Asurion they are the authorized service repair for Samsung. The said for the corrupted files to be removed, the phone needs a binary flashing which take awhile to do. It's like making it brand new. Which is why I opted to go back to T mobile since phone was still under warranty.

Oh dang! I've never even heard of such a thing. I've definitely got some buyer's remorse. I'm still within the new purchase window, but I don't want this to turn into a clown car of phones. I've already wasted 2 Saturdays settling up these pieces of junk. Guess I'll just be happy it's contained to only FB message on this one. Oh, and let's not forget the lovely $70 restocking fee for the privilege of exchanging the phone. Tmobile generously waived it for the first one, dunno if they'll be so gracious if it continues.

Oh wow, I didn't know you were a Tmobile subscriber too! The one that I went to, was more understanding of the situation I was dealing with. Cause they saw for themselves that it couldn't be fixed. And wasn't going to wait 6hrs to clear and reinstall software and not knowing if it will be fixed!

How soon after you bought it did you go back in? Part of me wants to hold them to the fire. These phones aren't inexpensive. But I don't exactly have endless hours in the day for these shenanigans.

There's a 45 day warranty on phone. It started happening shortly after getting the phone. So you should argue the fact that you didn't cause this. It's some kind of software/manufacturer issue. Plus call Samsung customer support.
