I want the reminder to alert me when I have messages. I've set it to do so, but after reading the alerted messages, the alert continues. I've done all of these steps without success in clearing the alerts: cleared the cache, restarted the phone, deleted the message and my response., turned off the "Reminder" app ( in case it interfered with the alert), deleted all messages in case ghost messages existed. Anymore sugeestuons other than turning off the reminder alert altogether because doing that would defeat it's purpose,

Instead of using your reminder app, try setting up repeat notifications.

Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings > Repeat Notification alerts.

From there, you can set the specific apps you want to repeat and the interval you want them to repeat at.1777314770331.jpg

Thank you. I went through the notifications settings and did that to send alerts about Google messages, but the repeating alerts keep coming after reading the messages. I did all the troubleshooting steps that I listed. No success. I'm wondering if I should try another message app???

I am trying to understand why you need an alert for a text message. Is it not enough that you got the notification from the app?

To clear the reminder, you have to dismiss it, not just clear the notification.  If you have a repeating notification, dismissing/marking it complete will not affect future reminders.  Clearing the notification just clears the notification.  I don't understand why you would need the reminder app to remind you of notifications.  Your notifications make a sound, and even if you set some to silent, you would still see the notification icons and the notifications in your notification area until you clear them.

If you only want your notifications read aloud when they come in, then you are better off creating a routine.  If: Notification received (all apps), then read notifications aloud. If you only want specific notifications read aloud, then only select the apps for which you want the notifications read aloud. No reminder app necessary.

That's an idea that I looked into. There might be something there if I look further, but I don't want messages read aloud, just reminded that a message is waiting. I'm not looking at my phone all the time and it's not always with me, so that occasional alert comes in handy. My ancient Note 9 did that with no problem.

Messages come through when people are away from their phone. The alert is supposed to let us know that we received a message during our absence, but it shouldn't keep alerting us after we've read the message.

The notifications will still be visible on your phone (and lock screen/AOD, if set for it) the next time you pick it up and you will be able to see you have notifications.  You can also turn on repeat notification alerts as @CEParsons mentioned.  You can also turn on Alert when phone picked up in Advanced features/motions and gestures.  This will add a vibration to the phone when you pick it up to tell you that you had missed calls or messages.  Since I do get a vibration if I had a notification from *this app*, I think it may vibrate on all missed notifications I never actually really paid attention.

This is a great idea! My old phone was able to do that. I'm also making sure to unpair my old phone with all other devices. Thanks!
