Will I be able to group messages on Google messaging like samsung messaging once it is gone?

Yes.  All text messaging apps handle group messaging.  The groups you already have established will continue.

Presently, this feature is not available; however, there is a possibility that Google may integrate it or a comparable alternative in the future.

In the meantime, you can pin messages to the top of the app for quick access.

How many chats do you have going?  You will see new messages because you a) will get the notifications, and b) the new unread messages go to the top of the list. Most of the time anyway, since what really goes to the top of the list is the last chat you interacted with.  New chats have a small circled number to the right to let you know there are new, unread messages in a chat. There is a search feature, as well, if you are looking for a particular chat.

I have tabs - work, family and regular text. All my work related text are under one tab. Specific family members and the everything else. That way I don't have to stroll or search messages. It's an OCD thing that works for me!!

The term is Categories , not tabs for future referencing.
