Software update to Galaxy watches causing massive battery drain if you are not already aware.
I lost 93% in my 13hr night shift. I kept thinking I forgot to charge it until I remembered I had an update recently. This keeps happening. Lost a good 8% just on my 26 minute commute home... Normally lasts 2 full days. Need addressed asap please.

Did this happen immediately after the update?  After an update, your battery will usually discharge faster than normal for a few days.  The update is busy working in the background putting things in place and looking for updated apps.  It is also relearning your usage patterns.  With this particular last update, Google Play services also seems to have gone rogue and is out of control in the background.  Sometimes a simple reboot or clearing the watch cache brings it back under control.  Check your app usage to see what's eating the battery.  In many instances, the battery usage information has simply disappeared and no one can seem to figure out why or fix it.  It has been reported many times to do the developers, but so far it has not been fixed.  Sometimes resetting the watch brings it back, but I'm not resetting my watch every day - it's up to them to fix it.  That being said, my battery life has returned to normal (and better), so the loss of usage stats is not of primary importance right now.

If your battery does not improve within a week, put in an error report and/or try resetting your watch.

Multiple people on reddit have already tried the above mentioned. I will add that clearing cache almost never works I don't know why people still bring that up, your device literally has to spend extra battery rebuilding cache. An update should be immediately settled in and this is the 3rd time this has happened with an update, could be on either end wether Samsung is ahead of Google in optimization (likely) or Samsung missed something. Losing 93% in 13~ hours is not normal and should not resolve itself within a week. This needs to be patched regardless.

On the watch, clearing the cache actually does work for many things.  Yes, it takes battery power to do so - that's what chargers are for.  Updates do not immediately settle in.  In order to get you back up and running with the least interruption, the basics get put into place first, while it keeps working in the background to complete.  Each update treats your watch as a new device, and your usage patterns must be relearned - until your patterns are re-established, your battery life will be erratic and not what it was.  The relearning process is hampered by what is going on in the background.  Yes, it can take a week to stabilize.

If you truly feel it's a malfunction, then put in an error report and submit your logs, as no one on this forum can help you.  This is  a peer-to-peer user help forum, not a direct line to Samsung support - nor is reddit, so it doesn't matter what people post there.

Samsung removed the boot cache so I can't clear it now when my phone isn't working I think that was a dumb move for Samsung

The cache partition on the phone is gone, yes; but the cache partition on the watch still exists.  One thing has nothing to do with the other.  The phone's cache partition is now self-cleaning.  It will clean out after an update and after a reboot.  This is why scheduled auto optimization is important.

Hi @userVFW7ayghsV, thanks for reaching out to the Samsung Community. We understand a fast draining battery can be frustrating. I would be more than happy to provide some assistance.

First, I do agree with @AAbbott, this can be normal after an update just as they said relearning your patterns.

I want to post a link to a thread with the steps on how to clear the cache of your watch. I think this can be very beneficial if you continue to notice a problem.
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-Watch/Tips-amp-Tricks-Wipe-cache-partition-on-Galaxy-Watc...

I would also suggest running diagnostics on your watch to ensure there isn't an issue with the battery.  You can do this right from the Members app on your phone. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003632/

Of course if you continue to have problems with your watch you can take it into an authorized service center for an evaluation and repair if needed.

Please let the community know if any of these steps worked for you.

This looks like an Iphone trick where the company puts an update out to drain products so they can sell new ones to the consumers. Been weeks and zero fix! I wont be buying another samsung watch if this isn't addressed soon. Tired of daily watch charging. Poor service Samsung!!!
