Keeping your notes up to date across your phone, tablet, and PC should be easy. With Samsung Notes sync, everything you write stays connected—so you can pick up right where you left off. Here’s a simple walkthrough to help you understand how Notes sync works and how to fix the most common issues.

 What Is Samsung Notes Sync?

Samsung Notes sync lets you access the same notes on all your devices signed in with the same Samsung account. If you edit or delete a synced note on one device, it updates everywhere else. Think of it as your notes traveling with you.

How to Turn on Notes Sync

  1. Sign in to your Samsung account

Make sure every device—phone, tablet, and PC—is signed in using the same Samsung account.

On mobile:

  • Settings → Sign in to your Galaxy
  • Notes → Settings → Sync with Samsung Cloud → Turn ON

On PC:
You must install both:

  • Samsung Notes app
  • Samsung Account app
(Both are available in the Microsoft Store.)

Most sync issues happen simply because the Account app isn't installed.

Choose Your Sync Method

You can choose how Notes syncs:

  • Wi-Fi only
  • Wi-Fi or mobile data

If your device is on mobile data and sync is set to Wi-Fi only, syncing won’t occur.
This is one of the most common issues users report.

Quick Sync: How to Sync Immediately

You can manually force a sync at any time.

Option A — Through Notes Settings:

Notes → Settings → Sync with Samsung Cloud → Sync now

Option B — Faster Method:

In the Notes list, swipe down to trigger Sync now.

The first sync may take longer depending on how many notes you have.

Understanding How Sync Works

A few important things to know:

  1. Only changes sync, not entire notes

If you add text, an image, or audio, each action syncs in the order it was created.

  1. Sync doesn’t cancel once a change has started

If Device A adds something while Device B is offline, the moment B reconnects, that change will sync.

What Happens If Something Gets Deleted?

If you delete content on Device A, that deletion is considered the most recent action, so it will sync to Device B and remove the content there too.

If you accidentally removed something:

  • Keep sync OFF on the device that still has the correct version
  • Save that note as a file in My Files
  • Re-import it as a new note to push it back to other devices

Why Notes Might Not Sync

Here are the most common reasons:

  • Sync is set to Wi-Fi only, but the device is on mobile data
  • Temporary server or network error
  • Note exceeds the handwriting limit (100,000+ strokes)
  • Auto sync data is turned off
  • Importing a note is confused with syncing
  • Notes are stored incorrectly on rare occasions
  • The device needs an update to support newer note features

Why You Might Not See the Sync Option

In some cases, “Sync with Samsung Cloud” doesn’t appear:

  • Child’s device managed with Family Link
  • Device running Android for Work Mode or Knox Mode
  • Maximum Power Saving turned on

Trash Doesn’t Sync — On Purpose

Deleted notes go to the Trash on all devices, but emptying Trash does NOT sync.

This protects you from losing something forever.
If you emptied Trash on one device, you can still recover deleted notes from another device’s Trash (within 30 days).

What Happens If Two Devices Edit a Note at the Same Time?

You’ll see a File Conflict during Notes sync popup with options:

  • Compare Notes (recommended)
  • Keep current device’s version
  • Keep the other device’s version
  • Save both

Final Tips

    • Always keep the Samsung Account app installed on PC
    • Make sure each device uses the same Samsung account
    • Check whether sync is restricted by settings or battery modes
    • Use “Sync now” after big edits or on a new device
