I have 13 in cabinets, but my new microwave specs states that the maximum cabinet depth is 12 inches.  Is there any way to still mount it?   My model number is ME21DB670012AA.

Yes, you can absolutely still mount your Samsung ME21DB670012AA microwave, even if your cabinets are 13 inches deep while the spec calls for a 12-inch maximum.

The "maximum 12 inches" specification usually refers to the depth of the cabinet bottom to allow the door to swing freely, but in most residential kitchens with standard, flush-mount cabinets, this simply means the microwave will protrude slightly from the front, which is normal.

Here are the ways to handle the 13-inch cabinet depth:

1. Direct Mount (Easiest Method)

โ€ข Install as normal: The wall mounting bracket holds the weight of the microwave, and the screws go through the bottom of the cabinet to hold it in place. The 1-inch difference: Because your cabinet is 13 inches (1 inch deeper than the recommendation), the microwave will simply sit 1 inch further back, meaning it will sit flush with the edge of your cabinets, or possibly just slightly behind the door front.

โ€ข Check Clearance: Before drilling, hold the microwave (or its cardboard template) up to check if the door hits the cabinet corner when opened. If it clears, you are good to go.

2. Add "Filler Blocks" or Spacers
If your cabinets have a bottom frame that hangs lower than the bottom shelf (a recessed bottom), the top of the microwave won't be flush against the wood.

โ€ข Solution: Use wood blocks (filler blocks) to fill the gap between the microwave top and the cabinet bottom. This ensures the mounting screws tighten properly without warping the microwave case.

3. Use a "Bump Out" Method (If needed) [1]
If the 13-inch cabinet truly restricts the door, you can "bump out" the mounting bracket.

โ€ข Solution: Install a 1/2-inch or 1-inch thick piece of plywood on the wall behind the mounting bracket. This moves the entire microwave forward, ensuring the door clears the cabinets.

Pianodude58...thank you so much for the concise explanation...I, also, thought the one inch wouldn't make a difference, but needed some validation. I haven't unboxed it yet to ensure top vent clearance, but will measure, and bump out if necessary....again, thanks for your reply.
