Battery consumption is complexly influenced by various factors, such as updates to installed apps, changes in the device’s usage environment, or usage patterns. After a major software update, it’s normal to notice temporary changes in battery life. Here are a few steps you can try while your device adjusts and optimizes in the background.
Let Adaptive Battery Relearn Your Usage
After a major update, the first thing you need to insure is that the Adaptive battery option is turned on and operating. If it is on, Excellent!
How to turn on Adaptive Battery:
Slide Down from the right corner and select Settings.
Select Battery > Select Background usage Limits > Select the Three Dots > Adaptive Battery
Toggle on Adaptive Battery
Allow Time
Your device will need some time to reoptimize again. Allow 2 full weeks for the adaptive battery to relearn your usage pattern. Battery usage may appear higher during this adjustment phase.
Check Your Performance Profile
If you’ve tried the above, and look for more immediate options to save battery life, you could also try checking your performance profile. Adjusting your performance mode can help reduce strain.
Open Settings > Go to Device Care
Tap Battery > Tap Performance profile > Select Light
Selecting this performance profile keeps the device performance smooth for everyday use, help reduce overheating, and should extend the battery life.
Optimizing Your Device
Many times, Battery drainage can occur due to background applications. Auto Optimization helps keep apps from running unnecessarily in the background.
Open Settings >Tap Device Care>Auto Optimization
Tap Auto Restart > Set to Auto restart your device when need or on a specific schedule.
In turning on auto restart this will restart your phone from time to time helping keep your device optimized and running in the best condition.
Turn On Battery Protection
To save battery power, and help the device manage charging behavior more intelligently. Turn on Battery Protection.
Steps:
Go to Settings > Battery
Tap Battery protection > Toggle On > Select Adaptative
If clearing the cache partition on Samsung devices is so important as a remedy for update induced malfunctions, why isn't this performed automatically during the update installation? It's a constant recommendation made here in the Members app community by experienced members to the less experienced users. In addition, I have to assume that the large majority of Samsung's customers are not aware of the Members app and just experience very disappointing malfunctions after updates are installed making them want to replace their misbehaving Samsung device with a competitive brand. Samsung needs to remedy this. No one should have to clear a cache partition manually to remedy a post update malfunction!
I have a Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the adaptive battery usage setting keeps disabling itself. I've already Googled common situations why it may happen, but I've checked for all the settings that might interfere with it, and it still keeps disabling itself. I check every day or two, and the setting keeps disabling itself. I'm on One UI 8.0.
Haven't had an update in 3 years and why is smart view not working correctly never had an update on my phone or TV and every time I use smart view audio is lagging or stuttering why
SamsungJustin , yes sir, we do. We started right after you posted it. O haven't found where anything has helped. And no, we tend to try and not use them while they are charging because it stops the charging and the battery drains faster. And I would love to take my phone into a Samsung Tech or experience shop, but I live in NETX. There is no such thing anywhere in my area. I honestly have no idea where the closest would be. I canceled my Samsung care because I was just wasting my money. I am at a loss. I apologize if I came across as rudely, but,it's been A LOT..
I really believe that Samsung products are really having malfunction with their tablet and phone because both of my life stay on you can turn it off in the next 10 minutes to come back on and it's crazy
I HATE the suggestion to throttle your device. You buy it for the specs, don't suggest we dumb it down cause you idiots have too much bloatware in the background. Speaking of, STOP AUTO INSTALLING **bleep** ON MY PHONE
A couple of days ago I installed the app daily burn and now when I sign out of the program and close the app it comes up on my screen later on that day daily burn is still running what does this mean and how do I stop it
Why not just quit loading these phones with all of this bloat ware didn't Lollipop teach Google and Samsung anything you don't need 9 system apps to do the same thing I'm surprised my phone doesn't float with all the bloat ware in it
To clear some of these Google problems why doesn't Samsung and other android makers as well as the carriers force Google to get a technical assistance phone number in place most of this garbage comes from Google to begin with
It happened right after an update. Found a YT video bought a battery and repair tools. I changed that thing. I did all of the above to try to revive it. The phone even said the battery was good. It wasn't
There's equipment out there that can make adjustments in milliseconds and you're telling me it takes weeks for your computer program to reevaluate my phone history? I know you track me all the time so why can't you just use that tracking to set your new programming with?
So basically, y'all took my post down and made it something that it wasn't about. 🤦🏾♂️ My original post was about "My Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Won't Charge After Security Update." My post was taken down and replaced with this. I click the post I originally made, and it sends me here. This does not help with the issue that I am facing with my watch. I have no issue with my Samsung phone.
Seems they have removed wipe cache partition for some phones with the February security patch.
This tips guide will need to be updated ASAP. I would really like not having to link to a post that isn't accurate anymore for some phones that got the February security patch and have had Wipe Cache Partition removed.
Completely normal after a major update. Android runs background optimization, rebuilds system caches, and re-indexes apps while Adaptive Battery relearns your usage patterns. That temporary workload can cause higher drain at first, but it usually stabilizes after a few charge cycles once the system finishes optimizing. 👍
Oh just wait until you're forced into Google messaging if you're not already using it because it drains your battery like crazy. And if you've already switched into it you should definitely check to see if that's why your battery is draining more consistently because that's what Google messages has been very well known to do
I shouldnt have to adjust my performance mode because the battery cant Handle what im doing. The battery should be bale to handle everything I throw at it in any mode that comes standard in the phone.
After going to T-Mobile and trying All This.. I ended up doing a Factory Reset.. 😡 Now I have a Brick of a Phone.. I CANNOT Personalize Any of my Notifications.. I've tried Everything.. Nothing is Working.. 🤬 For the first time in 20 years.. I am Frustrated with Samsung.. And now Everyone is telling me to get the 'other' phone.. 😂 Well.. That's my problem. Sorry to unload. Happy Monday!.. 💜
