Sleep Tracking with Galaxy Watch
The Samsung Health app on your Wear OS Galaxy watch can track your sleep. If it's displaying an error or not accurately portraying the details, there’s multiple steps you can try to get your watch back to tracking again. First Thing is first, please review the following video to ensure that you’ve set up sleep tracking properly on your watch.
Using Samsung Health Sleep Monitoring

Fully Charge the Galaxy Watch prior to sleeping
Make sure that your Galaxy watch is completely charged prior to sleeping, and that you’re using the OEM charger that came with the device. This ensure that the battery doesn’t give out in the middle of the night and will help produce more accurate tracking.
Clean your Wrist & Sensor
It's important to keep it clean & Dry to help it run efficiently. It's especially important to clean your watch after playing sports or exercising, as sweat and other residue can build up. Wash your wrist with basic hand soap/ antibacterial soap and water and dry well. Ensuring the device completely dry and your wrist dry will prevent skin irritation or watch rashes from occurring. Steps for cleaning can be found below:
Cleaning the body of the watch:
Wipe clean the watch and charger with soft, clean cloth, and dry it thoroughly. Clean the battery terminals with a cotton ball or a soft, clean cloth. Do not use any chemicals or detergents. Prevent the watch from being exposed to dust, sweat, ink, oil, and chemical products such as cosmetics, antibacterial spray, hand cleaner, detergent, and insecticides. If your watch is exposed to any of these substances, use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean it
Cleaning the watch strap:
You should clean your watch strap if it comes into contact with any of the following: oil, sun lotion, body sweat, body lotion, any foreign material or debris, and hand sanitizer.
Rubber straps: wipe clean with a slightly damp, soft, clean cloth. Dry the strap thoroughly with a clean cloth
Leather straps: wipe clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. If necessary, you can slightly dampen the cloth with clean, fresh water. Leave the strap to dry in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
Under no circumstances should your watch strap be exposed to any of the following: high pressure water, cleaning materials, ultrasonic waves, soaps, abrasive materials, ionized water, ultrasonic waves, direct sunlight for long periods, and hot or humid environment for long periods of time.
Wearing the Watch Correctly
When you want to wear your Samsung smart watch, there's a proper way to put it on, so it will be nice and snug with no discomfort. First, center the watch on top of your wrist and slide the end of the strap or band through the loop. Then, fit the strap or band to your wrist and firmly insert the pin into the adjustment hole. Ensure the pin is fully inserted into the hole. But make sure not to overtighten the strap or band.
Take necessary precautions if your skin is hypersensitive or if you have an allergy to any materials found in the Galaxy smart watch.
Please also be aware of the following:
- Do not bend the strap or band excessively. Doing so may damage your watch.
- Do not brace your watch against your body or a table.
Try Switching Wrists
Because of the way that we move and roll in our sleeps, sometimes it could be best to place your watch on the opposite wrist you normally would, depending on your movements. Some customers have reported they got much better tracking by trying this simple hack.
