  • Title:  "Recovery Mode" for Medical Conditions and Injuries
  • Problem: Currently, Samsung Health treats periods of forced inactivity (due to surgery, injury, or illness) as a "decline" in fitness. This negatively impacts the Energy Score and daily activity averages, which can be discouraging for users who are following medical advice to rest.
  •
  • Expected Functionality: I suggest a "Recovery Mode" that allows users to:
    • Pause Trackers: Temporarily disable step counting, Energy Score calculations, and activity level tracking.
    • Schedule Rest: Set a "to/from" date range where these metrics are paused or excluded from long-term averages.
    • Status Label: Display a "Recovering" status on the dashboard instead of showing zeroed-out activity bars.
  • User Impact: This helps users maintain accurate long-term health data by distinguishing between "laziness" and "medical necessity." It also supports better mental health for users recovering from major health events.
  • Real Life Example: Recently I underwent surgery of the "big toe" which per medical instructions, I was not allowed to walk for the first 48 hours, and no weight-bearing, walking or strenuous activities for the next 2 weeks. However, I expect my number of steps to increase very little while recovering.
  • Please let me know if I can provide you with additional information.  Thank you
