Unfortunately, if the device is locked and you donโ€™t have the password, thereโ€™s no official way to access or retrieve data before a factory reset. You can try checking Find My Mobile (Samsung account) โ€” if enabled, it might let you unlock it remotely.

So I assume you don't have it backed up to the cloud or external storage?

As @thismarkjohnson stated above, if you are not able to use Find My Mobile, you will have to factory reset your device.

If it was easy to retrieve data from a locked device, then anyone who steals/finds it can access it, and an owner should know their password since they would have to enter it multiple times a day if they don't have a fingerprint or extended unlock enabled. You will have to rely on whatever gets restored after a reset, as both Google backup services and Samsung backup services are automatic. Only personal data won't be restored. Unless you backed it up elsewhere. If you don't make at least a monthly backup, I guess your stuff is just not that important to you.

I just don't understand how this happens to people. It's not like you only have to enter a pin/password once in a while, every day you have to enter a pin at least a couple of times a day. Every time you reboot you have to enter a pin!

I can perhaps understand with tablets if it's not their main device, but why on earth would they not use the same password as their phone to avoid this scenario? I don't even understand how if their data is so important, they don't back it up.

Once again, if it was that easy, anyone who steals your device can get your data.
