Spam email

I am debating whether to use the Gmail app or the Samsung Email App for my emails (I am on a Galaxy Tab S7 Fe tablet). I use the Samsung email app on my Galaxy S22 phone as well. My email is through Comcast (or xfinity).

I am getting inundated with spam emails and I know how to report or mark an email as spam but I was wondering if there is a way to make a stronger filter so more of these emails go directly to my spam folder. 

I think I read somewhere that I would have to go to my email provider directly and I have gone that route with no success. 

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. Is there a preference as to which app I use?

I usually don't see any spam in my Gmail. However there were a few emails which went straight to spam folder and the app didn't even bother me with notifications about these. I usually get spam calls and messages which Google phone and messages apps take care of with ease.

@Charkatak, do you know if there is a way to set up a spam filter inside Gmail? Also, is Gmail your email provider? As I mentioned I have Comcast so I'm not sure if that is better or worse for spam issues.

I haven't researched if there is spam filter it does automatically for me. Yes I do use it @Gmail.com email address. You can also set up non Gmail account address on Gmail app. Additionally I have Microsoft account and I use Outlook app with that. I would suggest you to try Outlook app and Gmail even at the same time and compare

I use gmail and it automatically sends spam to the folder and deletes it after 30 days. You can review it before deleted to change the status to go to your inbox as not spam.

Is Gmail your email provider or do you have someone else?

I use Aqua Mail Pro that you can find on the Play store. It contains some of the strongest protocols to keep your phone safe from trackers and hackers. You'll also enjoy how much customizing it includes that Samsung and Gmail doesn't offer.

You can log into Gmail on a PC and see all the settings for Gmail including spam. I use outlook mail to handle all my email accounts and use its spam blocker.
