I understand your disappointment regarding the discontinuation of Samsung Messages. It is a common occurrence in the technology world for beloved applications to be discontinued, and we often need to seek alternatives to fulfill our needs. Regarding the sentiment that "NOBODY LIKES IT," it is important to consider that a vast number of individuals might hold a differing opinion. It is generally advisable to refrain from making broad generalizations on behalf of the majority. While Samsung Message users may express their views quite vocally, they represent a relatively small segment of the overall user base. In the weeks following Samsung's announcement about the discontinuation of their messaging application, I have personally engaged with numerous Samsung device owners. A significant number of them were already utilizing Google Messages, appreciating its enhanced compatibility with iPhones. I assisted six of these individuals in transitioning their devices, and they expressed considerable satisfaction with the change. Only two individuals conveyed significant distress regarding the news. While this analysis may not adhere to strict scientific methodology, I believe it offers a reasonably accurate insight into the general sentiment among Samsung device owners, encompassing users of both A series and S series devices.

Android is built in layers, starting with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) the free, "vanilla" foundation of the operating system. From Code to Phone 1. AOSP (The Foundation): Google releases the core source code for anyone to download and modify. It includes the basic interface and essential system tools but lacks Google apps. 2. Hardware Drivers (The Bridge): Phone manufacturers (like Samsung ) add "drivers" specialized code that lets the software talk to your phone's specific screen, camera, sensors and processor. 3 .To pre-install Google apps and services, device manufacturers must sign a Mobile Application Distribution Agreement (MADA) This usually entails an all or nothing approach. Meaning a suite of apps must be installed depending on region. When you first power on your device and get to your homescreen for the first time you will see a Google apps folder and the Google search bar. All of which can be removed from your home screen. 4. Google Mobile Services (The "Android" Experience): Most phones then add a proprietary layer of Google apps (Play Store, Maps, Gmail) and background services that many apps need to function through licensing. 5 Manufacturer Skins (The Look): Companies often add their own design on top, such as Samsung's One UI or OnePlus's OxygenOS, creating the final product you see. Essentially, AOSP is the engine and chassis, while the final product on your phone is the completed car with the paint, interior, and GPS system added on. By the time your phone reaches your hands it is no longer AOSP, it is a very much a closed system, especially on Samsung phones because of Knox Matrix.

I didn't say AT&T is blocking it. It is a carrier feature to locked devices. ViLTE is supplied by your carrier. They are the ones who put the carrier based tweaks to your software. This happens all the time with software updates, stuff gets broken. Put in an error report and contact your carrier.

That is Google I/O that they have every year in May. What is coming, what they are working on. It has absolutely nothing to do with Samsung!
