A Series & Other MobileCopy! So with the Galaxy A8 I would like for you to try this troubleshooting step first. We are going to Wipe the Cache/Partition on your device to see if this clears up your issue. Please follow steps listed below:
How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy A8 using hardware buttons
- Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume up button, the Power button and the Home button at the same time.
- When you feel the device vibrate, release ONLY the Power button.
- A screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the remaining buttons.
- Use the Volume down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe Cache/Partition. Press the Power button to select.
- Press the Power button again to select the Yes .
- Press the Power button to highlight, then select the ‘reboot’ option
Please let me know if this helps.

A Series & Other Mobile@Prof1 I tried it but the a8 2018 does not have a home button.
I did turn off my phone and booted it up while pressing the power button and the volume up button but the screen menu you mentioned didn't appear.Instead a "Download custom OS" menu appeared
