Notifications count indicator isn't showing

Does anyone know how to set up notifications in the top right corner of the app? I lost my settings and don't know exactly how many notifications Gmail and Messenger have. Galaxy fold 7

Goto settings>notifications>Advanced Settings>App icon badges
