Z Fold 7 Time Zone Changes

I just switched from 15 years iOS to this Z Fold 7. No matter how many times I turn off all services for date and time and leave it set to EST zone, after s few days no matter what state. In, the phone is set to local time and all toggles for auto time and locations are turned on. This is extreme frustrating bc I use my phone as an alarm and Google calendar sync for appointment deliverirs in this semi truck. Literally I can't have this phone ghost writing in my settings. I will have to get rid of it if I can't rely on my time zone to stay in EST while I travel. Thanks.

I think you just confirmed for me that it's T-Mobile that's controlling the time settings.  As I said, I have no issue when I'm in airplane mode and just connected to wi-fi, but as soon as I reconnect to the mobile network, even if I haven't turned auto back on myself, it's all back to auto.  When you are ready to tackle the issue again, you should contact T-Mobile tech support and see if they can stop doing that for your phone.  I'd like them to stop doing it for everyone's phone.  People have reasons for wanting a manual time set.

Yes. But it only does it with this Z fold 7 phone. Never on my iPhone. Not even on the Samsung tablet. Both have run years on T-Mobile and never change times.
I'll check with them at some point in the future.

Hmm. I have an a54, as does my sister, and we both run into this problem when traveling.  I believe it was also an issue with my S10 lite, although I only had it on T-Mobile for a short while before switching phones.

It is also possible with the newer OS's, T-Mobile has decided to take over control of this feature.  Don't forget that the carriers always tinker with some settings, even on unlocked phones. They may figure they are making sure people always have the correct time wherever they are, and for the majority of people this is not an issue.  For the minority of users who need to keep to particular times/time zones for a reason, it becomes a problem.

You're not alone brother. I have the same issue. I also want my phone to stay on Eastern Time because I drive truck. Z-fold 7 on T-Mobile. One thing I've noticed is I have my phone set to reboot once a week automatically. When the phone reboots, it changes to the automatic time zone and I have to go in and turn it off. I just did a test. My phone was set to Eastern Time (I'm in CST right now), showed 254 p.m. I rebooted it, and when the screen came up it showed 254 p.m. and then change to 154 p.m.  Went back into settings and it was set back on automatic. Apparently for me rebooting is the cause. It only happens after a reboot

Thanks. Good observation. I'm going to pay close attention after I restart mine also. They should be able to fix this issue with an update software patch.

They should, but not if T-Mo is controlling it.  If it's a phone issue, a patch will do.

If you are asking me, yes, I have T Mobile. My last phone was a Google Pixel 7 on T-Mobile. Did not have this issue. Only started since I got the Z-fold 7.

Yeah, I can't prove it yet, but my suspicion is very strong that since Android 14, T-Mobile has decided it wants phones to be on automatic time.  Everyone, including myself, who is having this issue  has T-Mo.  I have no issue with keeping it manual when traveling as long as I am in airplane mode.  The instant I connect to the mobile network, the settings go back to automatic.  Now, it *could* be just an issue with certain Samsung Phones and T-Mobile.  I have not yet put in an error report.  Of the people I know having this issue, they all have Android 14 or higher and T-Mobile.  There are also very many people who would never know it's an issue because they always keep their phone on auto and may or may not travel between time zones.
