I switched to the Z Fold 8 and some of my messages have split into two seperate threads, and I have no idea how to merge them back.

I've seen some suggestions make sure number is listed, clearing the cache, unistalling and reinstalling and that doesn't seem to fix the issue.

Check to see if they split into RCS chats and SMS chats. They shouldn't have, but they could have.

I think that's what happened.
I've never had so many issues switching phones before, everything is fine except the messages.

Check Group Settings: Tap your profile icon, go to Messages settings > Advanced > Group messaging, and switch the setting to Group MMS.
Clear App Cache: Open your phone's main Settings > Apps > Google Messages > Storage, then tap Clear Cache and Clear Data, and restart your phone
Check for Duplicate Contacts: Open your device's Contacts app, tap the top right menu, go to Settings, and select Merge duplicate contacts if a contact is split across multiple entries.

Try this and see if it works for you.....I saw something that said on web google messages the conversations aren't split so I signed in from my phone and it wasn't split on the web version of google messages. So I went back to the app and the messages merged back together. I'm not sure if when I paired it to login to the web that caused them to merge back but it fixed it. I even restarted my phone just to make sure and its back to normal now.

No I haven't, I even called Samsung they couldn't help. They told him its a developer issue with the app but I've seen forums going as far back as 2024 with this problem.

Samsung can't help because Google messages is a Google app, not a Samsung app, and you would have to contact Google.  I believe that Google has a help forum just like this one, but for Google issues.

Yea, I know Samung can't help but I thought I would try. Yes, I found a forum going back to 2024 by Google but none of those suggestions helped.
