How to get notifications when I have an update available

So I just now updated Galaxy Note 20 5G system by checking for one.  Have no idea how long it has been waiting.  Is there a way to be notified when there is one available??

Maybe it autonotifes but I simply checked before I got a notification(?).  Says it does notify but I did not get any such notification.
