Galaxy Note PhonesEarly October my note 10 ultra had the dreaded smart things app update and sent my phone straight into a Bootloop. Thousands of people and I have been waiting patiently for an update on this issue for a fix and telling us to factory reset our phones is NOT a fix!
I am from the Caribbean and where I am from has no Samsung outlet, and flying out to have my phone fixed is not an option. I have thousands of photos of my entire life and my mom who passed away, important information, contacts, etc on my phone which was unfortunately not backed up, so wiping it is NOT an option.
Please plEaSe PleAse PLEASE please Samsung we are begging for a fix or atleast even an update on this major issue that your company caused.
PS. Frustrated and depressed Samsung user

Galaxy Note PhonesI beg to differ. A factory reset *is* a fix. Just because it's not the fix you want, doesn't make it any less of one. Some things can only be fixed/cleared out/reset by a factory reset. If you have precious things on your phone, it is your responsibility to make sure you have backups. Your photos and contacts should have been syncing with Google, unless you specifically disabled that. It's on by default. If your Samsung auto-backup is on, you will be able to restore that backup after a reset.
Any electronic device can fail at any time, so it's prudent to make a backup of anything important to you. Samsung and Google make that easy by baking that automation into the operating system. There are also many backup apps that can be obtained and utilized if you don't trust or want to use either entity. There is also such a thing as just directly copying stuff onto a computer or flash drive or the cloud service of your choice.
