Galaxy Note Phones
Wow. So Samsung stopped supporting their own internet browser on their Note 8.
That, and the fact that they're discontinuing their text messaging app, indicates that Samsung is ready to fold. That's sad; I've been a loyal supporter since the first Note up until the 20. My husband and I are ready to upgrade, and now I need to find a new phone manufacturer. Any recommendations? I like being able to modify my phone with third party apks...

If meaning Samsung folding itself that isn't going to happen anytime remotely soon. They had $35b in profits for 2025. The Samsung Messages removal was a long time in the works going back to the S21 line & made clear with S24.
The Note 8 is nearly 9 years old old as it was released (IIRC) in Sept of 2017. My wife still has hers and uses it a great deal. It's in prefect condition too, but any official support for it in updates of any kind ended at the end of 2020.
Having said that, if this all is truly that meaningful, then moving to another brand is the best call.

The minimum required Android version for Samsung Browser is Android 10. The last update for the Note 8 was Android 9. Developers cannot indefinitely support older versions of Android. This happens to apps all the time.
