Galaxy Note PhonesHello, We know how bothersome it can be searching through your Files. The My Files app has the ability to sort files by Name, Date, Type, and Size.
To sort the files, open My Files app.
Select the category you would like to view.
Select the three lines just under where it shows the folder size at the top. This will pop up a menu to allow you to sort the files.

Galaxy Note PhonesThanks for the instructions. While I already knew them which was why I was losing my mind, it did lead me to go over my 'my files' screen more thoroughly!
Whats sad is Ive been a samsung android user for a decade plus and I never connected the issue parameters together
as the timeframe when I first noticed the 'sort' function was gone was the same timeframe I started using a different THEME!
DUH...
So anyone who has a strange issue of an icon or menu, etc not being there when you always thought it was. Make sure to click around on the screen as it IT COULD BE YOUR THEME making it invisible somehow, probably inadvertantly!
