How to use letters on the keypad

Can someone tell me how to use the letters on the keypad when I'm dialing a number? I tried double tapping, holding nothing works.

@kqin20 you won't get letters. The letters are there so if you are given a phone number like 1-800-WALMART you can press the keys needed. In this case 18009256278

I hate it when merchants give letters in their phones numbers. It's confusing. I know when I'm calling Walmart for example, I don't need the merchants name. I know who I'm calling.
