After updating yesterday to Android 16/UI 8, my SIM card is no longer recognized.
My phone tells me to insert a SIM card when 8 try and turn mobile networks on my phone diagnostics say the SIM card is good, just can't connect to a network.
I can't make any changes as the 'Access Point Names' and 'Network Operators' are greyed out.
Also, when I go to check for system update it says there's no info about the latest update... And I get an error message if I try and run a check...
Did my update somehow get botched? His so I force a re-update?

I switched from Verizon to Mint Mobile 6 months ago, and this is my first major update since. but I bought the phone already unlocked. Did this update somehow reset it? Why can't I make changes like I did when I switched networks?
Will a factory reset get me around this? (Able to modify my access point and network?)
Desperate to not buy a new phone just yet 🥺

I tried this with my phone it did nothing I don't have "apps" on my phone that aren't original to the phone it's the update that is messed up the phone I got the new phone didn't transfer anything yet before the update to ui8 all I did was agree to the update and it suddenly could no longer read my new Sim from a new provider

Ok, by now resetting the phone should just have the phone start with the new OS, rather than the old one and then an update coming down.  If your phone is starting up after the reset with Android 15/OneUI7 and then the Android 16/OneUI 8 is being installed, it's still being installed over the old OS.  If your phone ever read the SIM and was activated under the old OS, then you should still be able to turn wi-fi calling on, so you will at least have calling and texting capabilities over wi-fi until a fix can be found.  Other than replacing your SIM, have you contacted your carrier to see if re-provisioning the phone to their network would solve the issue?

This has happened on 3 separate software updates over multiple years. The devs simply don't care if we're bricked because of their incompetence.

has anyone tried getting a new SIM from their carrier (mine is TMobile)?  Some "experts" say getting a new SIM will fix, but i'm 70 miles from a TMobile store so don't want to run in and get a new one if it doesn't fix the problem.

T-Mobile will mail you a SIM, or you can switch to an e-SIM.  If you already had a working SIM, turning on wi-fi calling will still allow you to make and receive texts and calls even if the SIM is not working, as long as you are connected to a wi-fi network.

Has anyone found a workable solution? Have Samsung responded?  This has affected my A53, rendering it useless unless connected to a network somewhere.

Have you put in an error report?  There will be no response from Samsung unless a report is put in.   https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692
