Using more data lately

In the last month I have used more data than I've used in the last 7 years. What all can I check that could be running in the background so I can turn it off? I've never had this problem before. I've had Samsung galaxies ever since they came out with them.

Try this:
Settings >Connections >Data Usage
then check
Mobile data usage
and/or
Wi-Fi data usage

That should show you a list of apps and the amount of data each has used.
