Im so frustrated having to be forced to use Google messages, If I wanted to use that, I would have purchased a Google phone, if I have a Samsung phone I want to use the app on the phone๐Ÿ˜ญ

I want to stay with Samsung Messages!! I would have chosen Google messages a long time ago if it met my needs and had at least the same, useful, or better options, but it does not! I agree that if I wanted to use Google Messages, I would have purchased a Pixel Phone! I also don't want to have to go to a 3rd party app, especially when I have an excellent app that does exactly what I want and need it to do. I have been a Galaxy Phone user since it was introduced, but this is the kind of change that would prove to me that Samsung is not responsive to user needs, and may cause me to look elsewhere for a different brand of phone in the future.

Why on a Samsung phone am I going to be forced to give up my default Samsung messaging app and move to Google messaging app?

Because Samsung has decided to no longer support the app. You are only "forced" into Google if you want to use RCS - it's the only game in town. If you don't care about RCS, you can use any messaging app you want.

@AAbbott you do know Samsung Messages supports RCS right even with iPhones the only thing really missing is reactions

Give up the ghost already, if the poster wants RCS after July 6th they will have to use Google Messages.

Always has, this is not a new concept to how business works. The biggest driver of this change is carriers.

I think it's more than that. If it's a carrier thing, they would leave the app without RCS, just like it was before. I think it's about gag orders that prevent them from doing it to a Korean company. Not sure, but that could be the reason.
