My HTC phone had a small light that allowed me to see at a distance that there was an unopened email, voice mail or text.  Can Samsung put that on future phones?  Ideally, it would flash different colors for emails, voice mails or texts.  If it is felt that it would use too much battery and not everyone would want it, could it be an option that could be turned on and off by the user?

I think you can set that on newer phones, but I could be wrong. Are you wanting this for a reminder on older messages, or just as a general notification as they are coming in? I will look and see if I can find something like that still...

That notification LED has been gone on Samsung phones since 2019. It will never comeback.

Edge lighting can kinda do that, although I'm not sure if it's visible when the phone is face down ever since they removed curved screens. I also don't think you can set it to be different colors per notification unfortunately

Always On Display is the modern equivalent of this feature. Setting your lock screen notification style to "cards" places the notification indicators below your clock and makes them more visible.

If you use brief style notifications, the banner will pop up on the AOD and the edge lighting animation will pull the primary color from the app icon.

If this isn't sufficient, you can also turn on Flash notifications in accessibility settings.1778380917217.jpg1778381097558.jpg

You know very well that this is not the same thing. Led notification was not intrusive and didn't require an AOD actived. Phone could be locked with the screen being off. Again, non intrusive nor needing any interaction with the phone; This led feature is gone forever. And the existing features on current phones drain battery

AOD, while not perfectly identical in every way, is the modern successor to the feature and directly contributed to the feature being phased out.

Battery drain is pretty minor in my experience. Anecdotally, AOD represents 2-4% of usage with an average of 8hrs+ SOT. I use it as a desk clock so it is on most of my 8hr work day.

Because the feature is, as you say "gone forever" (debatable, considering the potential resurgence in the industry with rumored features like Pixel Glow) our function in this forum is to offer potential alternatives.

If you believe the native solutions are insufficient, you could always try a third party one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.alwaysondisplay1778408765395.jpg
