I was going through my good lock settings as I wasn't seeing the rg symbol when WIFI was of. So I ended up just disabling it altogether. I know most of the setting except a key symbol:

The key or lock icon is the Android symbol for VPN service. It will remain within the notification bar when Safe Browsing is enabled

That could be VPN icon, so it's turned on.

Sorry guys, losing my mind. I reestablished the vpn to my Synology nas after a factory reset. Never noticed it before.

Key symbol is the VPN . It shows that VPN is active
